Children's Eyes Sight Problem
Having healthy eyes is very
important. They are our weapon to see and enjoy God’s creations. That’s why we
have to take care and pay attention on them well, especially for children’s
eyes. Parents have to notice their
children’s eyes since they were baby so they won’t have eyes sight problem
early in their lives. Unfortunately, there are only some parents who realize
this problem. Nowdays, many children have decreasing eyes sight ability in
seeing object in certain distance because of some factors such as, lacking of
healthy foods, reading in wrong positions and places, and watching TV very
close to the screen.
The first factor of decreasing eyes
sight ability is lacking of healthy foods. Nutrition gives a big influence in children’s
eyes. The important nutritions for eyes are DHA
and vitamin A. The DHA can be
found in air susu ibu (ASI) and
vitamin A can be found much in carrot, tomato, chili and other fruits that the
color are orange. The children who only in short time enjoy ASI when they were baby and always
ignore fruits and vegetables, they will easily get the decreasing eyes sight
ability. For the example, our grandmother and grandfather who lived in
traditional life used to eat everything that in the nature (leaves and fruits),
so in their childhood and even now they don’t use spectacles and they don’t have
problem’s sight. Unfortunately, not many children like fruits and vegetables.
It is so pity because they will lack of nutrition for their eyes and then they
will use spectacles very early in their lives to help their sight.
The second factor of decreasing eyes
sight ability is reading in wrong positions and places. Reading is very
relaxing activity, especially children who are like reading books for long period
of times. It requires high concentration for eyes and bright rooms but usually
some children neglect it. For example, we often see children lying on the bed while
they are reading and under the lamp that the light is yellow instead of the
bright one. The effect of this habit is eyes will easily get tired and in short
time children will have decreasing eyes sight ability
The last factor of decreasing eyes
sight ability is watching TV very close to the screen. They who are often
watching TV very close to the screen have high risk to have decreasing eyes
sight ability. It can happen because the eyes are forced to adjust to the
screen which is very close with eyes. Because of the adjustment, the shape of
the lens will change, so that’s why the eyes ability seeing object in certain
distance will decrease. For example, the children watch TV in one meter or even
a half meter far. Besides that, the TV’s intensity can damage eyes in long
period of times.
The
three factors are very influence children’s eyes sight easily. That’s why
parents should notice on their children’s behavior and food because it can trigger
the risk of decreasing eyes sight ability. Parents have to make sure that their
children aren’t lacking of healthy foods, reading in wrong positions and
places, and watching TV very close to the screen.
